MEET GRANT MACPHERSON, SANDY LANE'S NEW CULINARY DIRECTOR
Sandy Lane has appointed Chef Grant MacPherson as Culinary Director and the depth of his international experience will take the Sandy Lane culinary experience to a whole new level of excellence. A gold medalist at the 1992 Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Grant has worked on five continents and brings a tremendous amount of international experience to Sandy Lane. Chef MacPherson has cooked for heads of state and the ‘gourmet royalty’ in the likes of Margaret Thatcher, George H. W. Bush, Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, Rod Stewart, Morgan Freeman, Julia Roberts and Robert Mondavi.
Chef MacPherson worked in several prestigious hotel kitchens including The Regent, The Ritz-Carlton, The Four Seasons, Malaysia’s Datai Hotel and the super luxurious Raffles Hotel in Singapore, before being recruited by Steve Wynn in 1998 to head culinary operations at the new 3,000 room Bellagio in Las Vegas. Grant oversaw the creation and operation of 18 restaurants and was responsible for more than 800 culinary employees. Steve Wynn then invited Grant to open the new Wynn properties in Las Vegas, where he became responsible for developing concepts for 24 new restaurants as well as establishing and overseeing the culinary operations of the new Wynn Macau.
After ten years in the Steve Wynn organisation and a career in the hotel entertainment hospitality field, Grant has joined Sandy Lane. Here, he will direct the already successful culinary team, forging a new and exciting gastronomical direction and creating high profile food and wine events. Grant will also be spearheading the evolution of Sandy Lane’s new all day dining restaurant due to open in October 2008.
