PURE TEMPTATION TAKES THE 12TH ANNUAL SANDY LANE GOLD CUP
On March 1st, the 12th annual Sandy Lane Gold Cup was run at the historic Garrison Savannah in Barbados. The Sandy Lane Gold Cup, is the Caribbean’s most prestigious horse race, attracting some of the best horses in the region. This highlight of the Caribbean racing calendar saw entries from Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and France this year.
Winning by a neck, Pure Temptation, a US-bred four year old colt, who happened to be a late entry into the event, took the gold. Pure Temptation, owned by Lord Michael Taylor and trained by William Clarke was ridden by veteran Barbadian Jockey, Andy Ward.
The winner was presented an 18 karat gold plated cup, by acting Governor General, Justice Elliot Belgrave, and Michael Pownall, Sandy Lane’s Chief Executive.
