FITNESS & CLASSES
The fitness centre is available to Sandy Lane residents only from 7am – 8pm
daily with a strict 16 years and over age restriction.
FITNESS ASSESSMENTS
Highly recommended before you start a new exercise regime or effective to
measure how you are doing on a current exercise plan, our fitness instructors
will guide you through a range of tests to ascertain your current level of
fitness. Your assessment results will help to highlight any areas of specific
need, particularly useful when designing an exercise program that will be
personalized and ultimately effective.
FULL FITNESS ASSESSMENT 60mins
This full test will allow you to determine your overall level of physical fitness
and will include tests to measure:
Resting Heart Rate, Lung Function, Aerobic Capacity, Flexibility, Muscle
Strength, Muscle Endurance and Body Composition
MINI FITNESS ASSESSMENT 30mins
This shorter assessment will measure the following:
Blood Pressure, Resting Heart Rate, Muscular Strength and Body
Composition
WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROFILE 30mins
An effective way to measure whether you are at the optimum weight for your
height and sex is to calculate your ratio of lean mass to body fat. Blood
pressure, Body Composition and Body Mass Index tests will also be taken.
NUTRITION CONSULTATION 60mins
For those guests desiring personalized nutritional advice individual
consultations can be arranged with our UK trained, registered dietitian.
Guests can receive guidance based on the latest scientific research in
several areas including, weight management, healthy eating, cholesterol
lowering, diabetes management, hypertension and food allergy/intolerance.
PERSONAL TRAINING 60mins
Our qualified fitness instructors are on hand to motivate you and create
a programme that addresses your personal needs and goals. These
programmes can be tailored to improve flexibility, overall body tone and
strengthening, a short consultation will help to identify your individual
requirements before starting a one hour session.
PILATES 60mins
The Pilates method, developed in the 1920’s, is a series of precise movements
designed to stretch and strengthen the muscles without adding bulk. These
type of exercises focus on the core muscle groups and are performed on
specifically designed exercise apparatus, under supervision of our instructor.
YOGA 90mins
Yoga, meaning 'yoke' or union in Sanskrit is a family of ancient spiritual
practices originating in India aiming at ‘union’ or body and mind, union of the
self with greater consciousness. Work one to one with our Yoga instructor so
that your class can be designed to match your personal level and goal.
Classes will focus on the body through asana (postures) and pranayama
(breathing flow of energy) practice, all of which are excellent in developing
flexibility, muscular strength and as an aid to detoxification.
TAI CHI 60mins
There are five major styles of Tai Chi, each named after the Chinese family
from whom they originated. Considered a soft style martial art form, applied
with deep relaxation throughout all your muscles which develops one’s own
awareness of balance, via a slow sequence of movements and pushing
hands to move chi or energy around the space and around the body.
QIGONG 60mins
Qigong; a powerful system of healing and energy medicine from ancient
China. It includes both dynamic and gentle techniques that can be practiced
from standing, seated, or supine postures, it is suitable for young and old. It
is the art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and
meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate the life energy (qi). Qigong
practice leads to better health, vitality and a tranquil state of mind making it
an ideal aid to recovery from illness or injury.
GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES
We offer a variety of complimentary group exercise classes daily, including
Mat Pilates, Spinning, Yoga, Boxercise, Tai Chi and Aqua aerobics.
